This month Fife Council will invest £750,000 improving the road network in north Fife.

We’ll be carrying out carriageway resurfacing on the A912 Gateside to Fife boundary by Balvaird Castle car park from Saturday 18 November 2017 for approx. three weeks.

Cllr Altany Craik, Convener of Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning and Transportation Committee said: “We maintain over 2,400 km of roads in Fife and we are spending nearly £8 million this year repairing and improving them.

“Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work. Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads on a daily basis, which is why this type of maintenance work is so essential.”

In order to undertake these works safely a road closure will be needed. Traffic will be diverted via the A91 and B996 Glenfarg (see map for diversion route). There will be access for emergency services but access for residents and businesses will be at the discretion of the contractor. Bus services will be affected. For more information contact Stagecoach on (01592) 645680 or visit

Cllr Craik concluded: “We apologise for any inconvenience and delay caused by these essential works, and we will try to keep any disturbance to a minimum. Your patience and co-operation during this time is greatly appreciated.”

Stabilised Pavements Ltd will be carrying out these works. They are a specialist contractor using an innovative road recycling technique. The benefits of this technique over conventional carriageway reconstruction are time, cost and CO2 savings.
