Support children and young people through supporting Children’s Panel members – become an Area Convener.

The Children’s Hearings System is Scotland’s unique care and justice system for children and young people in need of care, protection and support.

The Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 created Area Support Teams (ASTs) to support Children’s Panel members in their local area. There are twenty-two ASTs across Scotland playing a critical role in the delivery and administration of the Children’s Panel.

ASTs have responsibility for panel member recruitment, selection, induction and practice observation, for rota management and for supporting panel members at local level. They report regularly to CHS to share information about trends, issues, problems and best practice, so that the quality of practice across Scotland improves. AST members act as ambassadors for the Children’s Panel and represent it to other organisations and employers locally.

The Area Convener provides leadership and direction to the AST, ensuring that the AST supports panel members and carries out it’s the key responsibilities.

The National Convener’s office is now seeking to appoint an Area Convener to the Fife AST.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of the ethos, values and principles of the Children’s Hearings System as well as an understanding of the role of panel members.

For more information on the role and an application form please go to the Children’s Hearings Scotland website at www.chscotland.gov.uk or click on this link http://www.chscotland.gov.uk/about-chs/vacancies/area-convener-fife/

Interviews will be held on 6 June 2016.

Closing Date: 10th May 2016
