There is a lake called Lochgelly, 3 m. in circumference, which lies on S. of the par., and discharges itself into the Ore by a rivulet; till within the past 25 years, this lake was used to supply nearly one half of Scotland with the best leeches. In Kirkcaldy the name of leech was gelly, from that circumstance.
