It was highlighted at a Lochgelly Community Council meeting that the flag at the Lochgelly Town House had failed to be moved to half-mast at last Remembrance Day, which was due in part to the closure of the Town House.

Since the issue was raised, Chairperson Stevie Murray has been seeking a resolution, which due to the pending refurbishment of the Town House, will require the flagpole to be relocated to a new location. Community Councillors first sought the location to be at St Andrews church, however this is not possible.

The Community Council has now received feedback from Fife Council and three areas have been identified for the location of the flagpole;

  • Lochgelly Centre
  • Miners Institute
  • Town Hall

Please vote on the poll below for your preferred location, as your choice will form the opinion of the Lochgelly Community Council when giving feedback to Fife Council.

Where should the Flagpole be located?

  • Miners Institute (41%, 13 Votes)
  • Town Hall (41%, 13 Votes)
  • Lochgelly Centre (19%, 6 Votes)

Due to planning permission requirements, we are unsure if the flagpole will be relocated in time for the Remembrance Parade, however, Chairperson Murray is currently seeking a temporary location and solution for the Remembrance Day parade. We will keep you updated of any developments as they happen.
