Elevated flaring at the Mossmorran complex after a gas leak on the 5th December 2012. Emergency services were called out to the site. Plant has to be shut down for ongoing repairs. Flaring is still ongoing as of today.

    Has any one else noticed the really strong chemical / burning smell in South Lochgelly? Maybe this should also be reported to Shell / Exxon, SEPA or H&S Executive ASAP?

    ….or it could just be a odious little troll!

      We’ve heard from others about the smell and SEPA are aware of it. One of our volunteers also noticed a strange smell between Andrew St and Walker St on South St on the 5th.
