There is currently two vacancies at the Lochgelly Community Council that need to be filled by local residents. The positions are completely voluntary and will give any applicant a chance to be more involved in local decision making and to conduct local projects that benefit the local area.
The general purpose of a Community Council shall be to ascertain, co ordinate and express to
the local authorities for its area, and to public authorities, the views of the community which it represents, in relation to matters for which those authorities are responsible, and to take such action in the interests of that community as appears to it to be expedient and practicable. Community Councils are encouraged to promote community participation and a sense of
community spirit within their community.

Joining the Community Council will give you the option to consult with local residents and represent their views to the Community Council and the local authority.
As a Community Councillor you have a legal responsibility and the authority to undertake any activities in the interest of the local community.
This is an opportunity for local residents to become more involved in the local democratic process and help shape the positive future development of the town.

Applications must be submitted by Tuesday 11th December at the latest. Applications will then be presented to the Community Council at their next public meeting held at the Royal Oak Community Club on Wednesday 12th December, starting at 7pm.
