The Lochgelly Gala has returned for another year, through the hard work of the Lochgelly Community Development Forum and the fund raising skills of Alex Lawsons Millennium All Stars, who have been providing on-going support to the LCDF with a range of fund raising activities, held in the local pubs.
This years Gala is being held on the 19th August (Sunday) and will start at the West End Park, from 11:30am, and the youths can take part in a Fancy Dress competition that will be Scottish themed as part of the “Tartan Oor Toon” campaign for the Gala.
Fancy dress will be judged by Provost Jim Leishman, and then from 12:00pm (noon) the gala parade will begin from the West End Park, down Buller Street, along the Main Street and Auchterderran Road, up to the Public Park. The Gala will then be officially opened at around noon.
During the Gala, entertainment and shows will be provided for young children and teenagers, and this year there will be an outdoor climbing wall available. The rides will be cheaper than usual, with some rides free which are heavily subsidised through Funding.
The Lochgelly Tae Kwon Do will be doing a performance as well as acts from local dance groups, and other entertainment will be provided by George Courts and Alex Lawson.
A range of stalls, tombolas, and other competitions will be available, and if the weather manages to stay clear, the Gala will run up to around 5pm before winding down.
During the day there will be fund raising for the Lochgelly Christmas Lights, so please give generously.
According to Fife Weather (www.fifeweather.co.uk), the Lochgelly based weather station, temperatures will be around 17 Celsius with a light easterly breeze, with the chance of light showers. Hopefully the weather will stay settled, but expect it to be quite humid.
If the weather stays dry, this should be the biggest Gala yet, and will certainly be an enjoyable day for all.
