Admin Note: Published on behalf of ExxonMobil

On Monday 20th August, 2012 the Fife Ethylene Plant, Mossmorran will shutdown for a period of approximately 5 weeks. During this planned shutdown, ExxonMobil Chemical’s workforce and specialist engineers will carry out routine maintenance and safety inspections of equipment.

From Sunday 19th August for approximately 5 days, during the shutting down of the plant there will be periods of elevated flaring.

We apologise if this causes any inconvenience or concern. The flare is an essential part of the plants safety systems and at no time will there be any danger to local communities or employees. We would like to assure you it is our aim to keep flaring to a minimum.

As part of the shutdown preparations both the Health and Safety Executive and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency have been notified.

  1. I Hate Mossmorran

    August 19, 2012 at 9:44 pm

Sunday night, the dreaded rumble and noise erupting from Mossmorran, signalling the start of 5 days of noise and flaring. I dread it, the noise and rumbling slowly drain my energy, the flaring throughout the night disturbs my sleep. They may have issued an apology for any inconvience, I would rather they issued me with compensation for the ill health they cause me!
