Instructors from Lochgelly Tae kwon do visited local primary schools this week to give all classes a taste of martial arts. These visits were organised through Fife Council’s primary school sports co-ordinators, and are aimed at encouraging youngsters into healthy, positive activities which build confidence, fitness and self discipline.

Lochgelly South Primary enjoyed their visit on Tuesday from senior instructor Robert MacGregor and assistant Mike Ferguson. All the kids joined in enthusiastically and had a very enjoyable time learning some basics and then trying some kicks, blocks and strikes against pads.

The Tae kwon do team (joined by senior assistant – Stuart Reid) went to Cardenden Primary school on Thursday to give them similar sessions, but as part of the school’s “Active Day” for the Childline charity.

Once again all the kids joined in with great gusto and had a highly enjoyable and interesting time, even some of the teachers got active, so there may be some tired muscles!

We have had a great response to our visits, with 10 potential new students already.
