The Lochgelly Centre was officially reopened on the 14th February 2012. As part of the celebration Lochgelly High School Brass Band and Choir were on hand to provide music throughout the ceremony. Councillor Brian Goodall cut the ribbon to mark the opening, and then an acrobatic performance was held on the roof of the Lochgelly Centre.

The event was well attended by members of the public, local councillors, Fife police, community councillors and the LCDF. After all the opening ceremonies and speeches, members of the public were given a chance to view the completed building. We managed to capture a range of images of the days event, published below.

Great turnout, missed it myself as had to be in Edinburgh but got back just in time to see the gymnast on the ringl Lucky her muscles were working hard or she would have been frozen.

It was a good turnout, after the ring, 2 gymnasts done a similar performance from the ceiling inside the centre. We couldn’t get any photographs though because it was too packed to get inside.

It is so good to see that Lochgelly is still flourishing.
Fond memories linger like fronds in the Loch that hopefully still teams with fish.
The Meadows bloom as lights in the eye of the first tiger who fought for those whose support
    Was inevitable
And we always mourn the last man
    Who keeps that
    Fight.

Will the usual ratepayers please stop praising the Council for the Wonderfull. New centre,. Yes it is great that the new centre got the go ahead, BUT, as usual the council @ planners still Mucked up. With a jammed packed parking area at the Doctors Surgeries, We now have an Architect, who planned the Usual Lovely Grass and Tree area around the Centre – Instead of staff paring round the end & Side, AND say 10 Disabled parking bays off the raised main road ,at the Centre Entrance…. Just the usual Anti – Car Council – Yet Again ! !

Thanks for sharing this issue. We know at the Lochgelly Community Council, they have been raising issues of concern regarding local access to the Lochgelly Centre but parking has not been highlighted. We will forward your parking concerns and provide an update on this thread. Thanks.
