Lochgelly’s month long “Shop Smart, Shop Local, Shop Lochgelly “ campaign kicked off last week. Lochgelly’s retailers are getting behind the campaign by offering attractive discounts
to say thank you to their existing customers and new customers for choosing to shop locally. The discount vouchers are also available to download free of charge at www.lochgelly.org.uk.

Lochgelly’ retailers are offering unique products at keen prices and a friendly and personal service.

Shoppers, retailers and the town itself will benefit massively when everyone chooses to shop locally. Every local purchase can make a difference.

  • Shoppers save money on travel costs and travel time, receive friendly personal service and the opportunity to buy competitively priced products not always available at chain stores.
  • Local retailers gain more customers keeping their businesses sustainable so that they and their employees can make a living. They are also more likely to spend their money in the local area, keeping the circulation of money in the community.
  • The town centre needs businesses to thrive and be sustainable. Well used shops stay open and reduce the number of vacant retail units. A busier town centre can attract
new businesses into the town which will also reduce the number of vacant shops and add to what the town centre can offer shoppers.

The “Shop Smart, Shop Local, Shop Lochgelly “campaign aims to encourage more people to use their local shops. The campaign is supported by Fife Council as part of Town Centre Revitalisation, which is a recommendation of the Lochgelly Charrette.

A Lochgelly Charrette Update meeting is being held this Saturday the 19th November from 10.30 to 12.30 at the Ore Valley Business Centre, Main Street, Lochgelly. The event will illustrate the regeneration work that has happened in Lochgelly over recent years and the work that has been done since the Charrette in 2010. It is open to the public and everyone is warmly welcomed.
