An employee from Network Rail had confirmed that it was a truck responsible for crashing into the bridge.
The accident happened between 11:00am – 11:30am, as the truck did not have enough clearance room to pass the bridge as it went into Lochgelly. The only damage that I witnessed was some of the metal of the bridge had been bent upwards.
Neighbours had reported at the time of hearing a very loud bang, with one neighbour, thinking there had been a terrible car crash.
As a safety precaution, trains were cancelled, and the police blocked some of the road to give Network Rail the opportunity to examine the bridge for any structural damage.
Other than some small superficial damage to the bridge, there did not appear to be any significant stress to the integrity of the rail bridge.
