A volunteer went down to Loch Gelly and captured some images of the Loch and surrounding area. We hope you enjoy these images.

This gallery set will be added to our Lochgelly Galleries in the next few days after we have resolved a technical issues with our Galleries.

Kindness of Strangers

The volunteer would like to thank the lady that stopped her car and offered him a lift home. She assumed that the volunteer had got their car stuck in the snow rather than just being out for a walk. The volunteer declined the lift, but appreciated the offer and would just like to say thanks for her generosity.

Well done you for taking a walk down to the Loch in this weather! Really nice photos though 😉 Before my time, but I was told that folk used to be able to skate on the Loch during the winter, must have been really cold!

      Hi, thanks for commenting,

The Loch is mainly stocked with Pike and is a natural Loch. The name of the Loch is Gelly, and the town simply derives it name from there. I couldn’t tell you how old Lochgelly is, but I will try and find out and post back in the comments.
