Students from the ever growing Lochgelly Tae kwon do school have been enjoying yet more successes, 6 of them undertook their grading examinations at Rosie McDuff Hall in East Wemyss, under examiners Mr. Peter Scott and Mr. Robert MacGregor on Sunday 3rd October and Brian Jeffrey  competed at a tournament in Livingston hosted by Master Sheena Sutherland (8th dan).

Brian added two silver medals to the one he previously won at The Gathering in Perth in June. These were in the senior male yellow belt sparring and patterns.

The successful grading students were:

Sister & brother Amber Louise (8) and Keir Neilson (9) Fernie were promoted to 8th (Yellow) and 7th (Yellow with green tip) respectively

  • Promoted to Yellow with green tips were Brian Jeffrey (24) and Declan Wallace (on his 8th birthday) and Rachel Harper (7)
  • Promoted to yellow belt was Ruadhri McDonald (11)

Their instructor Robert MacGregor, who runs his twice weekly classes at the Lochgelly Town hall, said

“I’m delighted for them all. They all worked hard at practicing their practical and theory elements and this shone through at the grading. I am highly optimistic for the future of our school as all our students are working hard and progressing well and there is a good spirit throughout the class.

I am delighted for Brian at winning 2 silver medals to add to his silver at the last one, and hope that this will inspire more of our students to enter the next competition that comes up.

We will continue to try recruiting new members through school visits, which are planned for late this or early next month (as well as advertising)”

The class currently has 19 fully licensed students and we have the capacity for at least another 6, so beginners are always welcome.

Thanks for sharing this news and well done to all the students.

We caught your performance at the Lochgelly Gala which was very good, all the students showed good skills and discipline and most importantly they seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.
