VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) was on the 8th May 1945 and signifies the acceptance of the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany by the Allies, this also marked the end of the Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich. The surrender of Germany was authorised by the president Karl Donitz who had replaced Adolf Hitler, after Hitler had committed suicide on the 30th April 1945 during the Battle of Berlin.

The video below represents the remembrance ceremony held in Lochgelly for the 60th Anniversary (2005) and was filmed by the closed charity – Subliminal Directions.
