Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr At www.lochgelly.org.uk we would like to show our support to the LCRF and the Lochgelly Gala by pledging a small financial donation, so long as others will agree to sign the pledge to show their support. We would have liked to have donated more, but we are managed by a small group of volunteers and do not receive any funding support, so any money we have pledged is coming out the pockets of our volunteers. Making a Pledge We are using PledgeBank (www.pledgebank.com) to try and achieve a group donation from the Lochgelly community. PledgeBank is a site to help people get things done, especially things that require several people. How does it work? PledgeBank allows users to set up pledges and then encourages other people to sign up to them. A pledge is a statement of the form ‘I will do something, if a certain number of people will help me do it’. The creator of the pledge then publicises their pledge and encourages people to sign up. Two outcomes are possible – either the pledge fails to get enough subscribers before it expires (in which case, we contact everyone and tell them ‘better luck next time’), or, the better possibility, the pledge attracts enough people that they are all sent a message saying ‘Well done—now get going!’ Can you give me some examples? Sure. ‘I will start recycling if 100 people in my town will do the same’; ‘I will organise my child’s school play if 3 other parents will help’; ‘I will build a useful website if 1000 people promise to contribute to it’. Lochgelly Gala Pledges We have created 3 pledges that we are encouraging people to sign. If these 3 pledges are successful, it will mean that the people of Lochgelly will have managed to raise £500 to be spent on the Lochgelly Gala, which will be paid towards the cost of activities, food, running the event, and will help expand what will be on offer during the Gala. Pledge Value = £100 Pledge Value = £200 Pledge Value = £200 Make Your Own Pledge If you do not want to pledge financial support, there is other ways to help support and develop the Lochgelly Gala, including making your own pledge. Pledges are free to create on www.pledgebank.com which is managed by the excellent charity MySociety (www.mysociety.org) Help Promote the Gala If you want to help support the Lochgelly Gala, there is many ways you can contribute, including downloading our promotional poster (click on the image above for a preview) which you can print and display in your school, your place of work, ask your local shops and businesses to display, or display on your website or social network page.
