Lochgelly Community Christmas Lights

The Lochgelly Community Christmas Lights is a constituted non profit group dedicated to raising funds for the Christmas Lights to be displayed in Lochgelly, as well as other activities connected to the Lochgelly Christmas Lights. Originally the Christmas Lights were organised through individuals and groups, but throughout the years, the sole responsibility of the lights fell upon the Community Council.

The Lochgelly Christmas Lights group was formed to take the pressure away from the Lochgelly Community Council and free their time to enable them to tackle local issues of concern more effectively. This also allows the project to be further developed by re-engaging with indivudals and local non profit groups to progress the continuation of the Christmas Lights.

The group was officially constituted at a public meeting on the 27th July 2011 which has adopted the following Social Objectives.

  • Develop and improve the Annual Christmas Lights display each year in Lochgelly.
  • Fund raise monies to pay for Christmas Lights.
  • Facilitate and encourage active community involvement in the group.
  • Facilitate and encourage active community spirit through activities associated with the Christmas Lights in the town.

The group is managed by a committee of 10 members made up from representatives from different non profit organisations and individuals and welcomes participation from other local groups and individuals that would like to help develop and support the Christmas Lights and related events and activities for the Lochgelly area.

Great to see the various groups coming together, good idea. Wish you every success with your projects. I hope the Christmas Lights go ahead, it would be a shame if we cannot do it for our town. Good luck.
