West Fife Community Support

West Fife Community Support Service (WFCSS) is a flexible, community-based service, which encourages and supports people with a learning disability to make decisions about the range of opportunities they want to access within their community. WFCSS also provides practical support and assistance to enable individiuals’ choices become a reality.

At the heart of our work is our strong belief in Inclusion – the hope that communities will learn to include everyone. Communities can become healthier, stronger and better if they accept what everyone has to offer. Social exclusion is both damaging and detrimental to the community as a whole. You must be there to be included.

WFCSS is a flexible, community based service, which provides support, and encouragement, to individuals, to help them make decisions about the range of opportunities available locally. Help and support provided by WFCSS covers many subjects, including:

  • Leisure and Drama
  • Arts
  • Sports
  • Opportunites
  • Youth Development

Support is individually tailored to meet each persons needs and WFCSS recognises that each person is unique and has their own gifts and strengths, which they aim to develop by providing a range of opportunities to the individual, locally.

DRUMATIK

One project, growing in numbers and success is DRUMATIK, which carries out a drum and music session, locally in the Grainger Street premises.

DRUMATIK aims to challenge the perceptions and stereotypical ideas that society holds about people with a learning disability, and will show ALL people, regardless of disability that we have real gifts, skills and talents… and are eager to share these with the wider community.

DRUMATIK was first started by Mike Wallace who is continuing to encourage and develop the musical skills within the group as well as planning on making DRUMATIK a fully constituted group.

I feel that this is a very exciting and positive time for DRUMATIK! The group members all tell me that they are getting so much from the group, but above all they are having FUN.
