Background: Lochgelly High School opened as a six year, non denominational, community use, comprehensive school in August 1987 and serves the Benarty, Cardenden and Lochgelly areas. It has a fully integral Department of Special Education and it is now also designated as a New Community School.

Background:here are seven classes in the school. Four other classrooms within the school have been set up; one to accommodate the Nursery which takes three and four year olds, one is a ‘Living Room’, one is a Resource/Tutorial room and one is a Computer Suite. There is a Support for Learning base and a Library/Tutorial room. The large central Hall is used for P.E, Assemblies, concerts etc.

Background:The school is of a traditional design with all but two of our classes facing into the large main hall which is a multi-purpose area used for PE, drama, dance, gymnastics, after-school activities and school assemblies. Currently, there are 7 classrooms from P1-7, a dining room which is also used as a quiet-noisy/TV/Nursery PE room and ICT work area. There is a resource room which has also been devloped as a staff learning centre. Our Nursery has a capacity of 18/18 and currently has a roll of 35.
