Community Policing
Community Policing is a strategy and philosophy adopted by the police force to raise the visibility of the police force in local communities, which helps to prevent crime and provide a higher detection rate on crimes. Working in partnership with the community allows a greater interaction between the police and the local community which can help control crime and reduce fear on our local streets. It also allows members of the public to bring problems to the attention of the police.
Lochgelly and Lumphinnans is served by two Community Officers (PC Colin Falconer & PC Andrew Gilmour). PC Colin Falconer has been the Community Officer for Lochgelly and Lumphinnans for the last ten years, whilst PC Andrew Gilmour joined the Community Team, late 2008.
To further develop their links, interactions and relationships within the local community, the Community Officers will be holding a series of Community Meetings, to gather feedback, and allow members of the public to raise issues of concern and what issues do they feel the Community Officers should be tackling in the local area of Lochgelly and Lumphinnans.
