Lochgelly Tae Kwon Do
Lochgelly Tae Kwon Do has been providing access to training classes since March 2008 at the Lochgelly Town Hall. The classes are managed by Robert MacGregor who is a 4th Dan Black Belt with over 21 years experience of Tae Kwon Do. The classes are available for the local youth and the organiser has all the necessary certification including First Aid certification, Instructional certification, and Enhanced Disclosure certification.
The classes themselves have professional accreditation and is a member of and recognised by the UK Tae Kwon Do Federation (UKTF) and the International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF)
What is Tae Kwon Do?
Taekwondo is known for its emphasis on kicking techniques, which distinguishes it from martial arts such as karate or southern styles of kung fu. The rationale is that the leg is the longest and strongest weapon a martial artist has, and kicks thus have the greatest potential to execute powerful strikes without successful retaliation.
Physically, taekwondo develops strength, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina, as well as developing a focus on mental and ethical discipline, justice, etiquette, respect, and self-confidence.

Classes
Classes are available in the Lochgelly Town Hall every Tuesday and Thursday from around 6:50pm. The first session is provided completely free of charge and it is recommended to wear loose fitting ‘track suit’ type clothing. Also note that footwear is not required for the classes as it is carried out in bare feet.
Classes are available for youths (male & female) aged 8 and upwards. The organiser is also considering creating a class titled “little ninjas” for the 5-8 year olds.

Robert was promoted in April 2010 to 4th Dan black belt.
