The Lochgelly Christmas Lights were switched on earlier tonight by citizen of the year; John Pedon. The event was well attended by the local community which made the night complete.

The lights were arranged by the Lochgelly Community Christmas Lights which is a social partnership between several local organisations, with the Lochgelly Community Development Forum taking the lead role in organising the events and activities associated with the event.

Glow torches were provided for free to those attending, and the music was provided by the Lochgelly High School Pipe Band, and the Lochgelly Brass Band. Several hymns were sung and Reverend Jon McGee and local author provided the sermon.

Mr and Mrs Claus were on hand to share the festive spirit at a packed Miners Square and handed out sweeties to the children. Afterwards, refreshments were provided and a further performance by the Lochgelly Brass Band at the Royal Oak Community Club.

All in all it was a successful night which was well supported by the local community. A special thanks to the LCDF volunteers for their hard work in pulling off the event.

For those that missed the switch on, we have captured images of the night below (apologies for the low quality).
