Lochgelly Tae kwon do has just turned three years old and has celebrated its birthday by welcoming a new black belt to its ranks.

In addition, students have enjoyed competition success and members attended a “Masters Technincal Seminar” to upgrade their skills.

Lochgelly tae kwon DoMike Ferguson has been training and assisting twice a week in Lochgelly for the last three years although he is a student of Mr. Peter Scott (4th dan) from Kirkland in Methil, and he, along with 2 others from that class was successful in his dan grading, Mike and young Ivan Ma being promoted to 1st dan and Stefan Gerard promoted to 2nd dan.

The school had 2 students at the MSBA Tae kwon do tournament in Livingston on Sunday 3rd April and Rachel Harper (8) and Brian Jeffrey (25) came away with medals. Brian getting Silvers in sparring and green belt patterns.

Robert MacGregor, instructor of Lochgelly Tae kwon do, along with assistant Mike Ferguson and green belt student Brian Jeffrey attended the UKTF Masters technical seminar in Broxburn recently. The seminar was organized and run by Master Sheena Sutherland (8th dan) and Masters Sandy Dunbar and Mick Thompson (both 7th dan).

Robert had the privilege of teaching part of the seminar (on the subject of better kicking).

Mike was using it as preparation for his black belt grading test the following day and Brian went to learn and enjoy the experience of training with the masters.

The big class currently has 25 fully licensed students and has the capacity for at least another 5, so beginners are always welcome.

The “Little Ninjas” classes started in February and are going really well. Spaces are still available, so anyone interested can register.
